Jumping Cat Landing On His Feet In A Super Slow Motion Video CaptureFeline grace and beauty is evident in all its wonder in this super slow motion video clip of a white cat landing on its feet after a high jump. The clip was shot with a Phantom HD video camera at 1000 frames per second. Cat and pet lovers are not the only ones who will find this video fascinating to watch. The video was shot by David Fischer and me as part of a series of slow motion videos for stock use. We used software and hardware by GVS to make the process much simpler, faster and more efficient. The camera captures 32 gigabytes of information about every four seconds making data transfer and handling a critical part of the shooting process. GVS systems is a Leading developer and manufacturer of ruggedized digital video recorders and media management for the aerospace, broadcast, defense, digital cinema, post production, and sports worlds. They needed a beta tester for an elegant solution they have come up with for the challenges of shooting with the Phantom. Their software/hardware solution (GVS9000 2XU 444 VTR) is capable of dealing with the huge quantities of data captured by the camera and provided David and I with a unique opportunity to capture slow motion stock videos. Shoot 1000 frames a second requires a lot of light. We lit this image of a cat landing on its feet with a total of 10,000 watts of tungsten light. We used a main light of 4 2000 watt lights mounted in a custom built softbox. We had 2 2000 watt lights with reflectors pointed directly at the background behind the cat. |
