Money Blowing Away A Dollar Bill At A Time In A Slow Motion Stock Video Captured At 1000 Frames Per SecondAt some time or another we have all blown some money, but in this video it is very dramatically portrayed. A stack of one dollar bills sits on a wooden table and begins to blow away, literally, one dollar at a time, until the whole stack takes leave of us. Seeing this happen in such incredibly slow motion is a treat as well as a revelation as we watch each undulation of the bills when they slowly lift from the pile and drift out of the frame. It is an apt and fascinating metaphor for the money in the lives of most of us. Who among us hasn't, at some point or another, "Blown" our money? Shooting video at 1000 frames a second requires light, and a lot of it. Fortunately we had a lot! This clip was lit with 5 2000 watt tungsten lights installed in a custom built soft box. That's 10,000 watts of light. Just standing in front of the light box was enough to make us break out in a sweat! Makes you understand why strobes were invented for still photography! We shot with the Phantom HD camera and used software and a computer supplied by GVS. GVS systems is a Leading developer and manufacturer of ruggedized digital video recorders and media management for the aerospace, broadcast, defense, digital cinema, post production, and sports worlds. They needed a beta tester for an elegant solution they have come up with for the challenges of shooting with the Phantom. Their software/hardware solution (GVS9000 2XU 444 VTR) is capable of dealing with the huge quantities of data captured by the camera (32 gigabytes every 4 seconds) in a simple and efficient way. The Camera has variable frames rates, and we used 1000 frames per second at 1280x720 resolution. The software was able to convert the raw files to QuickTime Pro Res HQ files on the fly. |
