The Creative Brain: Synapses, Neurons, Connections and Creativity

A picture of the creative brain is with synapses, neurons, connections and activity illustrated with streaks of colored light. In this stock photo an African American's head in a profile photo, has transparent skin through which we can see those connections and that brain activity that indicates creative thinking and the creative process.

The Challenge of Visually Showing The Creative Process

The challenge of showing the creative process in a visual way such as a photograph or illustration is a big one. We all know the hackneyed symbol of the light bulb, which still retains validity simply because of the dearth of acceptable alternatives. In this image we also have a icon for creativity and ideas, and perhaps a more sophisticated and up to date one. While a light bulb seems static, this image of brightly colored lines, like electrical currents, imparts a sense of dynamic movement. This is a picture of the creative process. This is a photo about innovation. This is an image of organic thought processes and intelligence that is anything but artificial.

Thinking, Ideas and Stock Photos

How do you show thinking and ideas with a stock photo? That was the challenge I undertook resulting in this image of the thought process inside a man's head. This man's head is alive with thoughts, ideas, connections and activity. Like a circulatory system for ideas, the lines in this man's head weave and intermingle in vivid color. In this image we have eschewed circuit boards and circuitry for the more ethereal and flexible symbols of light and line. Using a tangle of conduits also seems more organic and appropriate for a process, that of creative problem solving, that is not only operating at a level far above that of even the most powerful computer, but is also inherently chaotic as well.
