The wind bends the palm tree and whips the waves into frothy spray as the heavy clouds pass overhead in this picture of a hurricane. The scene is dark and gray in a monochromatic mood that fits the meeting of an ocean storm and shore. The beach is unseen below the bottom of the frame, but the waves, flattened by the wind belie the power of mother nature and the sea. A storm at sea, such as this one, makes for a great background image.
Hurricane Pictures As Concept And Metaphor
Hurricane pictures make great concept images and metaphors for the adversity, challenges and unexpected problems that we all must face in life and in business. Are we prepared for emergencies? Do we have the resources and training to deal with natural as well as man made catastrophes? Images of fierce ocean storms can be used to illustrate advertisements and editorial messages about managing risk, dealing with danger and overwhelming forces, and, of course, the aftermath of natural disasters. A storm is representative of internal states as well. One can have such a storm in one''s mind, or heart; a storm of emotions ranging from anger and hate to love and empathy. Storms make great symbology because of the emotional connections they arouse in us and the depth of emotion that they can bring up. Storms can by symbols of adventure and excitement as well as difficulties and obstacles.
Storm Clouds, Heavy Seas And Wind-Whipped Waves
Storm clouds, heavy seas and wind-whipped waves are all utilized to create a compelling photograph of a hurricane. The images was also crafted to allow for vertical, square and horizontal cropping. The is plenty of copy space for headlines, mastheads and body copy. When one views this ocean storm the question arises as to where the event occurred...and the answer in this case is in my computer! I used Photoshop to create the image combining wave shots of a Pacific ocean storm off the coast of Northern California with skies photographed in a Colorado rain squall and a wind blown palm tree photographed in Hawaii. This is one of many storms in my photography collection, both on the sea and on land. One of my favorite things to photograph is a storm, and enhancing storms, or even creating new ones, on my computer is even better!
