A mountain biker hangs in the air between two cliffs over a deep chasm in this daring leap that symbolizes so much of life and business. It is impossible to tell for sure whether he is going to make it or not. It is possible, but dicey. This is a leap of faith as much as it is a mountain bike stunt. The photo is beautiful with the warm light from the setting sun, the bright orange jersey of the bike rider, his silver helmet, and the rich texture of the cliff faces all combining to create a fantasy scene. The bike is a dual suspension mountain bike with center-pull brakes and top-of-the-line components. The frame itself is titanium. If the rider achieves his jump he represents bold decisions and success. If he fails, he represents poor decision making and failure.

The thrill seeking mountain biker in this picture can represent overcoming obstacles, skill, determination...or on the other hand foolish risks and impending catastrophe. Which end of the spectrum is represented by this image depends on the headline and body copy as well as the attitudes of the viewer. This can be an image of optimism or pessimism, the glass half-full or half empty. The sunset might be symbolic of end, or perhaps it is a sunrise indicating new beginnings. So much of our world''s are self-fulfilling prophesies molded by our attitudes! Someone once said that if you believe you can, or you believe you cannot, you are usually right! The cliff in this image, the gap, the crevice, represents challenge and adversity that needs to be overcome. The bike can represent our lifestyle, or businesses, or even our thought patterns.

Getting "Big Air" On A Mountain Bike

This mountain biker is certainly getting "big air". Of course, he is doing it via Photoshop. In reality he was posing on the bicycle in my studio. I used Photoshop to combine images of rock cliffs, evening skies, and the bike rider to create this fantasy image of cycling daring-do. Even if a biker was confident he could successfully complete such a jump, he might think twice because if anything went wrong the consequences would be, shall we say, not good? I crafted the image to be enigmatic and flexible in it''s messaging. An advertiser can bend the message if many different directions by use of headlines and copy...and there is room for plenty in this image. The picture can also be cropped as a vertical, square or even horizontal. This can be a photo of adventure and a zest for life, or a nightmare of immature thinking. This image can also reflect the joys and benefits of exercise and healthy lifestyles. This can be an image depicting skill, inspiration, vitality and standing out from the crowd.
