This animal antics funny animal photo was created originally for a greeting card but is also available as a stock photo to illustrate a variety of concepts using humor for impact. This is a parody of a series of famous paintings by C. M. Coolidge. This was a complicated shoot. Bow Wow productions provided the dogs and an animal trainer. We built a set in the studio and photographed it. Next, using a layout (a drawing by the art director), we photographed each part, paws, limbs, face etc., that we would need. An animal trainer would hold the dog in the position we needed being careful not to stress the animal. We went through a lot of dog treats! After shooting the set, then the pets, we photographed the various props including cards, cigars and so forth. My assistant actually got sick from puffing the the cigars...pretty funny! I used Photoshop to create the composite picture. C.M. Coolidge painted eight different versions of the dogs playing poker image.
