Woman's Hair Flowing In Slow Motion Stock Video Capture For Health And Beauty Stock Use

Part of a series that features three different women, this ultra slow motion video capture shows a woman's face and hair as her hair swirls and undulates in fascinating slow motion. David Fischer and I used the GVS systems hardware and software combined with a Phantom HD camera to video a wide variety of subject material for stock usage. In this video clip a beautiful blond woman looks into the camera and runs her hands through her hair as it dances gracefully around her face. The Phantom HD captures High Definition quality video at 1000 frames per second giving the viewer the visual treat of seeing ordinary things in an extraordinary way. It is mesmerizing to watch hair flow in super slow motion!

Capturing High Speed (Slow Motion) Video With The Phantom HD Camera

Capturing video at such ultra high frames rates as 1000 frames per second requires light, and a lot of it. To shoot our model, Allana, we used a primary light consisting of five 2000 watt tungsten lights mounted in a custom made lightbox. We used two 2000 watt tungsten lights pointing, bare-bulb, at the background. We had two 1000 watt lights, also bare bulb, but flagged off from the camera, pointing at Allana's hair from behind. To make her hair flow we tried both creating air flow by waving a 3x4 foot piece of foam core, and by using an air compressor. I sat on the floor behind her and shot upwards towards her hair with the air hose.
