Birthday Celebrating Whippet Dog With Gifts and a Birthday Cake!

This lol funny Whippet has it made on his birthday as he stands wearing a party hat, holding a birthday cake with candles, and surrounded by party favors and gifts. This takes the term "Party Dog" to a whole new level! You can see the joy and happiness on his face as he grins from ear to ear.

Photographing Whippets For Fun and Profit

When I take pictures of Whippets it is always for profit...but it is always fun as well. I love the expressiveness of Whippet's faces. I just want to give them a big hug and tell them everything is going to be OK. They always look so tentative and shy. It is also a joy to watch them run with their natural ease and grace. When photographing your Whippet, as with any pet, patience and preparation are key. Get down to your pets level and shoot...your pictures will be more interesting from the lower angle. Get their eyes in focus and the rest will take care of itself. Having the animal look into the lens creates a sense of connection which again adds interest to your photo.

Tips for lighting Pets for Formal Photo Shoots

When I shoot pets I like to have a strobe with a soft box on each side and behind the animal. This adds rim light which both makes the photo more dramatic and separates the dog or cat from the background. I also like to have a broad soft light above me and directly pointed at the subject. This adds plenty of detail in the photo and provides a catch light in the eyes which can really enhance an image.
