Rock Skipping Off Of Water

A rock is seen skipping across water in this super slow motion stock video clip. The video was captured at 1900 frames per second in HD with a Phantom camera and utilizing a GVS 9000 computer set up. This fascinating and revealing look at the instant the rock skips off the water was the result of a team of only three of us. Stephanie D. Roeser handled the recording and camera end of the shot, Tom Penpark provided grip services, and I had the crushingly important responsibility of determining the trajectory and velocity of the stone. Okay, I threw the rock. In another version we have a silver dollar being skipped off of water, a much more financially orient concept stock motion clip.

Throwing Rocks, Skipping Stones

Throwing rocks and skipping stones are an iconic pastime of young kids through-out the world. As such, if we can harness that universal experience to help promote a message we exponentially increase the effectiveness of our communications. If we can draw thank link to those childhood emotions that the remembrance of things past bring to us, then we can much more effectively reach out to others. By shooting a skipping rock, a thrown stone, in ultra slow motion, we add a fascination to an otherwise ordinary childhood act. Seeing the water form into a liquid sculpture from the impact of the projectile lends and otherworldly beauty to a simple pastime engaged in by so many of us so long ago.

Rock skipping, Slow Motion Video, and Concept Stock Clips

While rock skipping may be a simple act, shot at 1900 frames per second with a Phantom HD video camera, the act becomes a mesmerizing conceptual video. Add a voice over, or type, and all manner of concepts can be discussed with this video...everything from childhood delights, to physics, to the dynamics of business and investment and even themes of success, achievement and skill. Anytime we get the chance to see something we haven't seen before, such as this super slow motion video of a rock skipping off of water revealing nuances and details heretofore unseen.
