Urban Crime Imagery

How does one show the concept of urban crime in a photo? In this case we utilized a hoodie in front of a cityscape with a dark and almost sinister mood, and no person visible in the garment. The "hoodie" has quickly become an iconic symbol of crime and criminals based on the fact that it is easy to hide one's face beneath the hood and the fact that many delinquent youth choose to wear hooded sweatshirts.  This is an image about crime, security and danger.

Hoodies and Racial Issues

Racial issues such as prejudice and racial profiling are now firmly associated with hooded sweatshirts known as hoodies. As such, this image makes a great visual for drawing attention to such important social challenges that we face in these times. By showing the sweatshirt with no person inside we turn the image into a metaphor for all manner of socially charged issues. The image was created to allow for maximum cropping options and abundant copy space for the text and headlines that determine the intended message of a given communication.

Hoodies And Economic Challenges

The hoodie can also symbolize inequalities in opportunity and the disparity between the haves and the have nots. Just as a fur coat might represent high-society and wealthy matrons, the hoodie represents those on the lower end of the economic scale.
