Woman In Market, Saana Yemen

A woman navigates the narrow streets of the old city of Saana, Yemen, passing the Yemeni equivalent of a hardware store with it's jumble of wears hanging in the street. The woman wears a black Abaya or Chador that is common to Muslim women in Arab countries. Only her eyes are visible through a narrow slit. Nonetheless, the Yemeni people are warm and friendly.

This is an image of commerce in the Old City of Saana, Yemen. The narrow streets are filled with small shops. Sometimes I wonder how they can all make ends meet, make a profit. But then, I wonder that at home in the United States as well....

Adventure Travel in Yemen

There is much to see in Yemen from the Old City of Saana to the Haraz mountains, to the magical island of Socotra. I had a fabulous time on an adventure travel photo tour by leaders Jeremy Woodhouse and Luka Esenko. As a photographer, it was a "working" vacation for me. From tropical beaches to mountain vistas, from ancient cities to crowded markets, the trip was an unqualified success!
