Water Recycling

Water recycling is clearly indicated in this photographic image of water splashes forming the iconic recycling arrow symbol. The splashes forming the arrows are on a light blue gradated background and the image can be cropped to square, vertical or horizontal depending on the needs of the art directors, designers and photo editors. Creating Water Recycling And Conservation Images

To create this water recycling and conservation image I had my partner toss up glasses of water in my studio while I photographed the resulting splashes using Speedotron and Profoto strobes and my Nikon D800 camera. I brought the water splash captures into Photoshop, chose the splashes that looked the most promising and create selections of the water using the pen tool and clipping paths. I used the warp tool and liquify filters, as well as copying and pasting and layer masks to shape the splash photos into the arrow shapes mimicking the well-known recycling logo. I used the gradient fill tool to add the background. The result is a new twist on a iconic idea and a recycling message that is clear and specific to water.
