Text Messaging At The Wrong Time Creates Problems During A Flying Trapeze Performance

Text Messaging at an inopportune moment during a flying trapeze performance is the basis for this concept stock photo. Humor and the unexpected are used to drive home the downside of excessive fixation on text messaging and over use of the cell phone. In this image the "catcher" is texting and is about to miss catching his partner, who wears an expression of surprise and concern. Hope he has a safety net! This image also has ethnic diversity featuring both an Hispanic and an Asian model.

Using Humor In Stock Photography

Humor, well done, is one of the best methods of communicating memorable messages through stock photography. A viewer is much more likely to pay attention to, and linger with, a humorous and entertaining image. This is particularly true when the image is one that has not been over used. Text messaging during a Circus performance is certainly not a illustration that has been done to death!

Creating Stock Photos Using Photoshop

The models in this stock picture were photographed in my studio. Each model is a composite of two shots. One shot is of the upper half of the body and the other of the lower half. I had the models lay on a bench and hold the position for the upper body and then the lower body separately. The trapeze apparatus was photographed during an actual trapeze performance. I used clipping paths to create selections of each of the elements and then composite them together. The final piece to the puzzle was the background sky, which was shot, in all places, in Inner Mongolia! On my travels I always am looking out for resources to add to my archives for just such uses as this one.
