Peace and Freedom represented by a symbolic release of a white dove against a black background as a super slow motion HD video

This slow motion video of a white dove being released by a man's hands was shot with a Phantom HD video camera at 1000 frames per second. This was a team effort between David Fischer and I. The image was captured in David's studio using a custom built 10,000 watt soft box for illumination. Both still photos and motion stock are available for licensing through Getty Images.

Slow Motion Video Capture

The Phantom HD camera can capture HD at 1000 frames per second at HD resolutions, and can capture higher frame rates but at lower resolutions. We shot all of our work at either 1000 frames per second or, in some cases, 500 frames per second. Those kinds of frame rates can provide the viewer with what we call a "visual revelation", the chance to see the extraordinary that often hides within in the ordinary, such as the flight of a dove. One thing that helps make this clip special is that the dove pauses for a moment and turns his head to look at the camera during his flight. This clip was our first take and ended up being the best one.

The uses for this slow motion video of a dove being released are many.

Anybody with a message of peace, love, freedom or spirituality can utilize this clip to enhance their message. Because so few of us have ever had a chance to witness the beauty of flight so completely presented to us, it is a mesmerizing and captivating thing to watch. In fact, every single person I have shown the clip to has asked to see it again! That is the kind of impact that any one with a message to tell wants to have. I can see this clip being used by the spiritual community, for charities and fund raising, for editorials on conflict and the peace process, by self help groups and by anyone wanting to get a message across about purity, about freedom and about beauty.
