A Stairwell that seems to stretch endlessly down is the setting for this stock photo of an African American businessman who has paused to look up at the remaining distance he must climb. You can see that the man has already come a very long way but there is no way to determine how much further he has to go on his road to success.

The Path To Success: A Stock Photograph For Business and For Lifestyle

The stock photograph and add impact and punch to any advertisement, promotional or editorial presentation that speaks of concepts such as success, adversity, challenge and the need for perseverance. A staircase represents the road to success, of setting and reaching for goals, and of the effort needed to attain those goals. The man in this photo has paused to check his progress; he isn't looking back, but rather ahead. This photograph shows the harsh reality of achieving goals, but does so in a positive way. He has gone this far, a very long ways, and though he still has a long climb, he will continue until his purpose is fulfilled.The steps, or stairs, also represent the way forward and the future. It is a concept that we all must face.

Creating A Concept Stock Photo Of Challenge And Adversity

To create this image I photographed a staircase in a shopping mall in Mumbai, India. I then rebuilt the stairway using Photoshop. The original set of stairs was only about four or five stories. I added the extra distance and changed the detailing. The man was photographed in my studio, or rather from the roof of my studio, as he leaned on a mock railing and looked up towards me. I used Photoshop to composite him into the scene and add the necessary shadow to make the image look real and believable.
