How To Create Funny Cat Pictures For Fun and Profit

Here is how we create funny cat photos for profit (and fun as well...). We first come up with our idea, then put that down on paper in the form of a layout or drawing. We then systematically photograph each element or part that is needed. For this particular cat creation I had already photographed the cats in my studio for other projects. I always use relatively flat and soft light, which offers me more flexibility in combining images in my composites. Where I live, in Mill Valley, CA., there is often a light fog overcast on summer days. I took advantage of such a day to photography my fence. That way the quality of the light matches the quality of light I used to photography the cats with. I then photographed some trees with my 135 mm Canon F2 lens, throwing the trees way out of focus. I used the pen tool in Photoshop to create a clipping path around the fence and pasted it into the out of focus tree shot. I then selected each of the cat parts (each cat is made up of several different photos) and pasted them all together. Voila! Three funny cat friends singing together on a fence.
