Pictures of German Shepherds and other dogs seldom, if ever, have as many different breeds in the same photo as this image. I photographed over twenty-five dogs of various breeds and put together a complex background of the dog portraits. Over that multiple dog background I superimposed a photograph of a German Shepherd. This is one happy and eager-looking German Shepherd portrait!

German Shepherds, Actors And Stock Photos

German Shepherds, or Alsatians, are a breed dating back to 1899 in Germany. They are working dogs bred for sheep herding and protection duties. They are loyal and protective in personality, are obedient, strong and intelligent, and are often used in military and police work. Max Von Stephanitz is credited with being the originator of the breed. As of 1993 the German Shepherd was the third most popular breed in the United States. Rin Tin Tin, the beloved German shepherd acting dog, played a large role in the popularity of the breed. German Shepherds are large dogs weighing between 50 to 90 pounds. They are active, self-assured, and eager to learn. In the military they have even been used to parachute from planes! They have a keen sense of smell, are fearless, and quite loyal to their owners. Besides Rin Tin Tin, other star acting dogs include Strongheart, Koton, Szarik and Charlie B. Barkin. In my work German Shepherds star as stock photo models!
