An Oak tree remains strong and green in this picture of a vast expanse of dry, cracked and drought-stricken earth. This is a picture of resilience and the fortitude of life in face of harsh natural disasters and, in this case, the threat of drought. This is a photo of the perseverance of life, the incessant struggle to survive, and of hope. The Oak tree is a symbol of strength and hope in the face of adversity and challenge.

Creating Natural Disaster Stock Photos of Drought and Hope

To create this natural disaster drought photo that still offers hope and possibilities, I chose a base of dry cracked earth to illustrate the adversity and challenge of natural disasters and drought, and an Oak tree as a symbol of strength, endurance, hope and possibilities. This is an optimistic image in the end. The dry cracked earth, as it happens, was actually a recently drained rice paddy, and when I stepped on the surface I sank down to my mid-shin in the soft mud. Go figure!
