Wall Of Eyes

The eyes of over two hundred individual models were assembled together to create this wall of eyes that can be a metaphor for everything from observation to audience to identity issues. This is a fascinating image to gaze into. Each set of eyes provides a slightly different emotion and a different story begins to form in our minds. This image is "trippy" if nothing else! Blue eyes, green eyes, brown eyes, and eyes from every ethnic variation, men, women, seniors and children are all included (and all model released). Is this indicative of big brother, or vigilance of the Internet? This complex and intricate image draws us in compelling us to create meaning for each set of eyes. The image was created by Stephanie D. Roeser using photos shot by John Lund over the last seven years.

The Eyes Have It

The eyes have it, and this image has eyes...lots of them! The eyes in this image were shot on locations including the United States, Argentina, Thailand, Burma, Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, and China making this truly a cross cultural and International image of humankind. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, which makes this a very soulful photo! I never get tired of looking at this image. Most of the eyes seem to express happiness wile some seem to share worry, wariness, wonder and fatigue. I do not see any eyes expressing negative emotions such as anger or sadness. Some of the eyes are so expressive of happiness that one can''t help but smile back. I love that!

Are we being watched one might ask upon seeing this wallpaper of eye balls? Does this image reveal some sinister subplot, or is it a celebration of our brothers and sisters in their moments of delight and common humanity? I prefer to think the latter rather than the former. Over eight-hundred individual eyes makes quite a sight! Their are happy eyes, eyes with glasses, heavy lidded eyes and wide open eyes. What fun! This image truly conveys the family of man. This is a photo of community and brotherhood.
