Crab On A Socotra Beach

A crab scuttles sideways along the surf on the Yemeni island of Socotra in the last of the afternoon light. Socotra island in the Indian Ocean is a fantastic place to get away from it all on a relaxing vacation or adventure travel. You will see few tourists, but you will see incredible beaches, amazing mountain vistas and deep canyons. The people who inhabit Socotra island are warm and friendly and justifiably proud of their island, home to the Dragon Blood Trees and Bottle trees. Their are mountain groves of Frankincense trees, goats roaming freely all over the rocky terrain, and sparsely scatter rock homes of the Socotrans. You will need a good four wheel drive vehicle as many of the roads seemed more like river beds to me!
